Seeking New MRC Members

The Jefferson MRC currently has openings for the following volunteer positions:

  • District 1 Rep
  • District 3 Rep
  • Environmental Interests Rep
  • Commercial or Economic Interests (Alternate)
  • Marine Science Practitioner

We advise our County Commissioners on issues related to the marine resources of East Jefferson County and sponsor projects that reflect local priorities.

Applicants should have demonstrated interest, experience and/or affiliation with marine and shoreline-related activities, organizations or businesses. 

Of particular interest are: familiarity with water quality issues, communication skills, maritime trades or marine-related businesses, restoration/conservation practitioner experience or education focus.

Star Marine Inc. is a Puget Sound based, small family owned and operated tug boat company established in 1976 seeking to hire a Deckhand. The ideal candidate will reside in Washington state, have tug boat experience and possess a merchant mariner credential with AB and or Tonnage endorsement. Work consists of 3-7 day trips on inland voyages. Star Marine is a small company that does all their own maintenance on a fleet of 4 tugboats. Inbetween busy times, everyone has the opportunity to do maintenance in a 9-5 type schedule. Experience in cooking, and maintenance work are a plus.
