The below images are posters collaged from research by Rick Oltman, Ashlyn Brown, and Pam Petraneck in 2019 to create public awareness about the historical significance of the Point Hudson Jetty. At the time, the jetty had been redesigned using an inferior and inappropriate design. Community members banded together to research and make connections with Port staff and Historical consultants to come to consensus about how best to repair or replace the neglected jetties. We even created a blog, POINT HUDSON IS.. to aid in public awareness. This effort demonstrated to the port that this community can and will volunteer to provide information, expertise, and alternatives that the port itself did not do or was unable to do.
Now in 2022, that replacement has begun, starting with the North Jetty. This is history in the making for our town.
The poster series below is safely boxed and stored as of this post and is available for display. Contact the PTMTA.

Final poster collage ss of 2019. In September of 2022 we see the beginning of the north jetty replacement. Sea Marine continues difficult negotiations for their needed expansion onto property across Jefferson Street (onto a portion of the “back 40 Flex-space”). The “back 40” remains disputed for use by Puget Sound Express and the Maritime Center as dedicated parking. Moorage rates are increasing untenably. Inflation is impacting our local maritime community. The port has a long list of capitol improvements and is exploring more involvement in agriculture. Outcome uncertain.
