Small organizations like ours exist because we volunteer to serve on the Board of Trustees. The only way brochures get printed, the website gets maintained, letters get written, taxes get filed, general advocacy and promotion of our members and marine trades community all happens is because we make it happen. It is fun and worthwhile to be a part of making sure our industry is not overlooked in favor of short term profits and gentrification.

The PTMTA is always looking for nominees, whether you have served in the past or for the first time. We are all happy to meet with you and talk about what it is like, what is expected, and what is possible so you can make an informed decision. “I’m too busy” only goes so far. We are all busy running our own operations but without a board, there is no PTMTA, and then there is no voice nor advocacy when you need it most.

Being on a board of trustees is a skill-set enhancement opportunity, a great way to make connections, something to be proud of, and very rewarding when we can make a positive difference and chart our course as an industry.
