Kimberlie Webber, the Port of PT’s “Environmental Officer”, gave a presentation to the PTMTA board in May. She wants to get the word out that she is here to help and to educate, not to police our boat yard. Keeping hazardous materials from escaping into the air and into the ground is critical for the Port to remain open, which means our marine trades livelihoods depend on it. While boat owners are more often the rule breakers, we all make mistakes either knowingly or due to ignorance. Together with Kimberlie, we are posting easily downloadable information. Please print them and post them to shop walls. Hand them out to customers who are also doing some of their own work.
None of us win if inspectors cite the Port for failing to meet the obligatory and stringent requirements. Passing environmental benchmarks is a constant effort needing “all hands on deck.” Thank you! (and you just might get a free coffee in the process.) 😉
