North Jetty Ground Breaking

Boat festival had barely been packed up when the port of PT held a ground breaking ceremony at Point Hudson to launch the rebuilding of the North Jetty as stage one of the Point Hudson break water project. People strolled up from all directions leading to a nice turnout with a mixture of community members and representatives from city, county, and local organizations. It was a happy moment for those who have worked to support to the port’s redesign of the jetties by providing volunteer research and local knowledge. The PTMTA was represented in the ‘gold shovel” line-up by board chair person, Pete Langley with photos from PTMTA vice chair, Ashlyn  Brown.

Port Commissioner Carol Hasse, who fought hard for a jetty design closely resembling the original design, makes a brief speech at the September 14th ground breaking.

Port Director Eron Berg addresses the crowd to thank everyone who played a role in getting this project to this point: From planning and design, to permitting and bidding, to commencement.
