The newly installed 164 solar panels on the roofs of the Marine Systems and Hammond Boatbuilding shops have been online for four days and have produced 295 kwh. That’s 73.75 kw per day of production this time of year (low solar production season). To put this into perspective the average US household uses 29 kilowatts per day. The new solar panels are expected to offset close to 100 percent of the boat school’s upper campus electrical consumption over the course of a year.
