2023 WBF and RRRMB Rally success!

Thank you to all PTMTA tent tenders, presenters, and rowboat rally participants who made this 2023 Wooden Boat Festival fresh and joyful. Some great photos and video clips are being shared on FB and Instagram. Sadly this editor’s computer crashed shortly after downloading (and deleting from camera) all the photos I took.

Special thanks to Pat & Lisa Mahon, Bryan Hayes, Dave Thompson, Pete Stein, Jennifer Takaki, Lou Geraghty, Scott Swantner, Jeremy Johnson, Lee Erheart, Claudia Zysk, Ian Weedman, Mike Novak, and anyone I missed for helping out in the PTMTA tent.

The Boat Yard Stage was busy with our marine trades as well. Talks were well attended with an average of 60 + attendees at each of the 13 presentations on that stage alone. 12 of the 13 presenters were by Jefferson County businesses with one from Burlington. Huge thank you’s go out to PT Sails, Pat Mahon Surveys, Ultimate Boat Care, PT Foundry, Brion Toss Rigging, Diana Tally and Ernie Baird, PT Boat Co, Haven’s Esther Whitmore & Daniel Hawkins, Maria Coryell-Martin, Leatherwood Finishing, Fiberglass Supply, and SEA Marine. Having so many local marine trades presenting at this festival on the many stages strengthens our legacy as a world class working waterfront. Thank you all and we can all thank the Wooden Boat Foundation and NWMC’s Barb Trailor and crew for doing the extremely challenging work of organizing this event.
The inaugural RowRowRowMyBoat Rally welcomed at least 50 participants in 30+ craft, ages from 4 and up. It was great to see lots of kids rowing and paddling in the group. Thank you one and all and special thanks to Jennifer Takaki for supplying the coffee and cookies, Thank you to the Port of Port Townsend for its generous support, Thank you to the PT Sailing Association, PTMTA, PT Rigging & Spars, and Diana Talley, Thank you Sandy Wakefield and Candice Cosler for being our ground crew and cleaning up after we had all hit the water. We are already planning to do this again next year!
Friend Sandy Lam created a fun video of the rally boats entering and exiting Point Hudson. We lost the soundtrack somehow but you get the idea.
