In searching for a deal on a particular piece of deck hardware, a purchase was made from the website “marinesupplyco.com” . All indications, after three weeks and no part, are that this site is a scam. You’d never know by looking at it. The only red flag that got ignored is paying a Paypal invoice that did not have the company name, but rather a person’s name. Follow up shows that the email address bounces back and the phone number voice mail is generic and without mention of the business name. Further digging shows that the listed address in Florida is for an arts and entertainment center. As a final effort to find out, other marine supply stores in the area were called and asked if they knew about this one. One had heard of it and thought it was a scam.
So, it appears that a very legitimate looking website, is far from it. The bold word on the homepage changes to “Engines”, “Boat Hardware”, etc. in a convincing visual but the more one studies the photos, the more they seem like strange choices. We can probably thank AI web creation assistants for making scammers’ lives easier. SO, Beware folks. If anything looks off when shopping online, especially at the point of sale, respect your gut feeling and move away.
