Moderate Risk Waste at Boat Haven closing?

Port decisions that can affect you;

UPDATE: 2.07.22 Responses to letters of concern indicate that the Port is working with the MRW facility to ensure there is no gap in the service. Thank you for sharing your interest in its continuation. The transition is not expected until 2025.

Moderate Risk Waste Facility at Boat Haven

Public comment for the Feb 9th Port Commission meeting has been submitted with concerns about the port ending the MRW (moderate risk waste) center’s lease early to allow for more space in the yard for boats. (see it here:https://portofpt.com/wp-content/uploads/20220209-Public-Comments.pdf)
The implication is that there could be a gap of several years between removal of the boat haven facility and any new facility being built in the county.
Alternative “collection services” have proven very frustrating.
  • Do you and your neighbors use the Boat Haven Facility? (please ask around!)
  • What happens if there is no new facility in the county for several years?
  • Does it matter to you?
  • Would you support having the facility remain at Boat Haven until a replacement facility is within reasonable realization?
  • Do you have a better suggestion?
