Sea Marine’s new “ice blaster” vs sand blasting

IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

Boating presents inherent challenges to all of us who want to be conscious of our impact on the environment. We can reduce our footprint by maintaining our boats’ systems for efficiency and limiting emissions and consciously reducing the possibility of leaks and spills. In addition to encouraging environmentally responsible boat use, we’re doing our part at SEA Marine to service your vessels with the most ecologically friendly methods available.

We are excited to tell you about our new Cold Jet Ice Blaster. This revolutionary machine uses dry ice rather than sand to clean and prep surfaces. Dry ice blasting uses recycled solid carbon dioxide (CO2) pellets or MicroParticles, which are blasted at supersonic speeds and sublimate on impact, lifting dirt and contaminants off the underlying substrate. Dry ice cleaning is non-abrasive, non-conductive, non-toxic, and non-flammable. It is also chemical free, water free and does not create secondary waste streams. You can find more info on Cold Jet’s website

We have a system in place that captures wash-down waste water and debris to prevent contaminants from entering the waterway. We are also planning to upgrade our paint area with industrial curtains to contain fumes and an improved ventilation system.

…WE CAN ALL DO OUR PART.
