A new look for the Port of PT LOGO

Because this editor finds logos and rebranding both challenging and interesting, here is an update on the Port of PT’s new logo project.

The port currently has three logos in circulation: the old one with the anatomically incorrectly rigged lumber schooner(?), and the set of logos from over the years including a revision to include the phrase “Serving all of Jefferson County”. In creating a new logo, the port’s current goal is to maintain a sailboat as the center, but make it more meaningful to the port while also nodding to the port’s original logo from the 1920’s. Featured in this post (above) is a DRAFT image of the proposed full color logo. This is still a work in progress. There are edits underway, and there are grayscale and line only versions that would be used for different media.

Constructive critique is welcome, directly to the port or we can share it if it ends up in the PTMTA inbox.

The .PDF version is here: PortOfPortTownsend-Logo_0708.

Check out this interesting bit of history: The 1920’s Letterhead for the Port of Port Townsend. The artist for the new logo was inspired by it.
