Welcome Back Dave Thompson
Welcome Carrie Fiore
About: Carrie has been an integral part of ACI Boat and Goldstar Marine for the past six years. She has a passion for empowering our youth to find their place in our community. Carrie thrives at harboring connections to the marine trades community by developing relationships with hard working people and fostering their education to place them in living wage jobs. Her motivation for involvement with the PTMTA is driven by her deep connection to the local marine trades and her desire to develop its future workforce. WELCOME BACK:
Pat Mahon

Continuing Board for 2023 are:
Melanya Nordstrom
About: “Joining the PTMTA has given me the opportunity to make new connections in our community, learn about how businesses and the port operate, and see the impact our marine trades has on Port Townsend and Jefferson County. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow my knowledge as we prepare for an update on the Economic Impact Study. ”
Pete Langley
ABOUT: Owner of the Port Townsend Foundry:” At Port Townsend Foundry, our goal will always be to bring in a new generation of manufacturing engineers. We believe the teaching, learning, and passing on of trade skills is vital to sustaining our industry.” Pete Langley serves on the boards of the EDC Team Jefferson and the Jefferson County Historical Society as well as the PTMTA board. He has been active in setting up the PTMTA to be financially secure long into the future, cultivating relationships with our political partners in the county and state to educate them on the importance of the Maritime Sector and to preserve our maritime culture past, present, and future. As the PTMTA grows and becomes a stronger voice for our industry, securing a physical space and eventually paid staff are features Pete has been working on. Our first office is at the Nomura Building, 385 Benedict Street PT.
Peter Stein
ABOUT: “Sitting on the PTMTA board has been a great learning experience for me. For 12 years I’ve spent more waking hours in Boat Haven than anywhere else. Mostly keeping my nose to the grindstone and working away with little knowledge of any of the PoPT or the PTMTA doings in the background. As a board member it has shown me how much the marine trades are valued, not just by the people who do them or use them, but by a community that surrounds them. My hopes for the PTMTA in the coming year are to drum up as many new members as we can, continue an open line of communication with the PoPT, spread the word about the Lifeboat Fund, and, of course, continue advocating for ALL marine trades in the greater Jeffco area.”
Jeremy Lala
About: Jeremy came to SEA Marine in June 2018. He has lived most of his life in Port Townsend, moving here is 1988. He speaks fondly of summer camps on the Adventuress crewed by jr. high kids. After Hight school he moved to Colorado where he became a motorcycle tech and lived for several years. He returned to Port Townsend in 2003 and opened an environmentally conscious land clearing company(oxymoron). During the economic downturn, the land clearing company slowed to the point that he had to close the business. He made the best of it and moved to Thailand and worked for YouthConnect teaching Burmese refugees motorbike maintenance and metal fabrication. After returning from Thailand, he went to work at PT Honda before it closed and shortly after that he came to SEA to focus on boat mechanics. He was a quick study, gaining certifications from ABYC, NWSWB, and Volvo Penta. It soon became evident that Jeremy was more than just a proficient mechanic and he was promoted to Service Manager. He is not only knowledgeable and experienced but also great at communicating with customers. Jeremy can often be found peering into his computer, if not searching for a particular boat part, educating himself on new equipment and techniques for boat repair and maintenance, ensuring that SEA Marine stays at the forefront of developments in the maritime industry. His knowledge and appreciation for the community runs deep and is a strong advocate for the marine trades in Port Townsend.
Ashlyn Brown
About: Ashlyn and Russell Brown own and operate Port Townsend Watercraft. She started volunteering with the PTMTA in 2014. A love of sailing and our maritime culture and trades inspires her to speak up against the threats of gentrification. As a PTMTA board member, goals include; helping establish a more user friendly website for members and boaters, writing marine trades articles for the Chamber’s Business Insider magazine to raise broader community awareness, and expand outreach and trades engagement in the decision making process.
Ian Weedman
About: Ian began as an apprentice at Brion Toss Rigging more than 20 years ago before striking out on his own, then returning as a full partner. Ian has shared a passion for the PTMTA Lifeboat Fund’s value and leads efforts to establish clear Fund recipient parameters and rebuild the fund for more frequent, need based distribution.
