Future workforce housing project

From Bayside Housing on FB

Bayside is thrilled to announce that we have closed on the purchase of the historic Starrett House Bed & Breakfast in uptown Port Townsend! This purchase signifies an important expansion of our mission to include workforce housing in recognition of the emergency nature of the housing crisis in our community.
In the immediate future, Bayside Housing & Services will continue to operate the house as a Bed & Breakfast while we work through specifics of allowable use and the possibility of converting it back to long-term housing for our local community. Our intent is to focus primarily on workforce housing for employed women and on being dedicated stewards of this iconic local treasure.
Our staff has developed a 5-year maintenance plan to appropriately care for this unique historic property in order to maintain and enhance its integrity. And we’ve begun applying for various grant opportunities to cover expenses over the long term. We look forward to announcing opportunities in the near future for neighbors and other friends of Bayside to visit the Starrett House to hear more about plans as they develop. And most especially, we look forward to providing more resources for local working people.
Many thanks go to Lissy Andrews, Christian Andrews and Teri Nomura, the staff at Sound Community Bank, and to our board and staff for their dedication and commitment to doing everything in their power to house people in Jefferson County!
Stay tuned!
