PORT TOWNSEND — Port of Port Townsend Commissioner Pam Petranek has retained her seat against challenger Chuck Fauls.
Petranek won 7,387 votes, or 87.65 percent to Fauls’ 1,011 votes, or 12 percent in Tuesday’s general election.
Petranek said she plans to continue engaging with businesses and working to fulfill the port’s mission of being a leader in economic development and job creation.
“It’s a continuation of why I became a commissioner,” Petranek said, “making sure that we have accountability, affordability and sustainability.”Petranek said this campaign had been easier than the first time she ran successfully for commissioner against Fauls in 2019.
In that contest, she became the port’s first female commissioner.
“I think every citizen should really contemplate how they can give back to their community when they’ve received a lot from their community,” she said. “I’ve been hugely supported.”
Fauls was not immediately available for comment.
The next ballot count will be by 4 p.m. today, according to the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office, although the date and time could change.
The election will be certified Nov. 28.
Congrats to Commissioner Petranek
