City Hall 4/20 Comp Plan vote alert

I received a request to share this with our maritime community. Jefferson county, Including the city of PT, has a special synchronicity between maritime and farming.  Sailor/farmer/+ friend Bly Winstorm, the author of the letter below, is asking for our help which is intended to benefit all of us who care about this place.

This concerns the importance of protections for farms and gardens within the city limits. Quimper Growers has been fighting hard to get an amendment into the latest version of the comp plan and the city council will be voting on this Monday, 4/20/26

Check it out.

Hello,

There are two editorial pieces in the Leader that explain the why we have been working so hard to effect a positive change in our city.  One is written by the editor, and one by me.  Here is a link: https://ptleader.com/category/opinion/columns/  Tell your friends about them.

If you believe that the ideas in those columns make sense, and should be considered by the city for adoption, it will be critically important that you communicate that to the city council.  The best way to do that is to make a public comment on Monday, either in person or on zoom, so they have to look you in the eye and respond.  Written comments are better than nothing, but this is one of those times we must show up if we want change.

The meeting is Monday, the 20th, at 6pm.  I will send an email soon with some ideas about how one might tailor their comments to this opportunity.  I am happy to talk with anyone about this, if you would like to arrange a call, let me know.

Best,

Bly

How different this world would be if our leaders spent as much time in their gardens as they do in their war rooms.
