Based on recently requested information, here is some information regarding Live-aboards in our Port of Port Townsend specific to our marine trades workforce.

Marine Trades Live-aboard Guidelines

The Port of Port Townsend recognizes that marine trades employees are a vital part of
the Port’s success. We understand that finding housing in Port Townsend can be
challenging. For this reason, local marine trades businesses may request priority guest
monthly moorage assignments with live-aboard status on behalf of their employees. If
and when a slip becomes available, you are encouraged to accept it, as slips in this
highly desirable marina can be difficult to obtain.
This is a temporary arrangement intended to provide housing while you actively seek
permanent accommodations and generally will not exceed twelve months. Once
permanent housing is secured, the moorage agreement will terminate, and the vessel
must depart the marina.
While occupying a slip, you must remain in good standing with the Port and ensure all
payments are made on time.
If you schedule a haul-out, it is recommended that you continue paying for your slip
during that period or risk losing your assignment.
If you choose to live aboard your vessel permanently and apply for the Port’s permanent
moorage wait list, you may be required to vacate your slip before permanent moorage
becomes available. Depending on vessel length, wait times for permanent moorage can
be as long as ten years.
